Need to add an additional 480x272 output format for the Create Zen W
Reply Quote
Hi,

The Creative Zen W screen size is 480 by 272 pixels (16:9 widescreen format).

1. Using the M2convert for Zen program, the largest output option of 320 by 240 pixels leaves about 42% of the screen unused - this is less than satisfactory.

2. Using the M2convert Pro program, the largest ouput option of 640 by 360 pixels is an avi file (same 16:9 ratio), but this does not fill-up the screen when played on the Zen W - it appears almost the same size as the 320 by 240.

3. Using the M2convert Pro program,  the MPEG 2 format which allows custom pixel sizing. Can this type of feature be added to other ouput file options?

Is there some other way to specify the exact screen dimension of 480 by 272 for the output size Zen W compatible file?  Using the Autosize feature does not automatically set the pixel dimension to the device limits. If not, I'd recommend adding the pixel dimensions of 480 by 272 as an output option for Zen output files.  There is no need to carry the extra overhead of a larger avi file if it doesn't properly scale down to the screen size of the Zen W.

I would like to buy the pro version of this code because it seems to work pretty well compared to other video conversion  codes I've tested.  However, since the output formats that I can access don't meet the device limits, I'm not going to make the committment at this time unless there is something that I have overlooked.

Thanks,

Ken

Try converting using the ZEN converter while specifying compression to MPEG4\MP3 format and 640x360 file size. This should yield widescreen file for playback on ZEN W.
