I have the 8gig Zen and Im wondering how many hours of video I can expect to get using this format? Lets use an 1.0 gig, avi file for an example, what size would the file be after the conversion and to where the quality is still very good? Dan, The total sum of videos duration that you can get depends on several attributes, such as: - Source files that you are converting: the compression used, quality, video contents - Output options: Type of compression, video size and the quality that you are converting to.   I did a small test and converted a 5-minute chapter of a DVD using medium quality, 320x240, with MPEG4 video compression, and the resulting file was about 22.5 Megabytes. If you convert similar videos, you should get around 29.5 hours of video at a size of 8 Gigabytes. If you decrease the quality or size, you should get more than that, of course.   If you don't have it, I suggest that you download the free evaluation version of our M²Convert ZEN from our website and try it to see if it meets your demands. Seems like a good idea, im going traveling next week for a month and this seems pretty good. Im new at this, is this any different (better) than the other options to format to, like wva, etc. for the Zen? As is it seems like I can get about 7-8 movies on the 8 gig and have an 8gig sd card coming in the mail today. Looks like I will be able to get much more fitted in using your program, If averaging about 800mg, just off the top of your head, how many movies do you think I can cram in? Sorry for so many questions..    Report

You maybe able to fit 20-23 movies on a total size of 16GB at 700-800 MB a movie, but of course this is just an estimate. The actual number depends, as I told you earlier, on many factors. I tried a movie that is around 2 hours. I converted it to both AVI and WMV (with the same settings above). The resulting AVI file was 409 MB and the AVI file was 280. This means if your movies are similar to mine, you could have between 35 and 55 movies in your 16 Gigabytes of storage. Again, the results depend on the many factors. I leave in a week, I downloaded the trial, it seems to be as complex as you want to make it. But, I do not have time to learn the ins and outs of the program, it looks as if the program optomizes automatically when you load and instruct the program to convert to Zen. Is the only thing I have to be concearned (at this point) are the 2 options Quality and Video Size? I want decent quality, but I want to squeeze as much as I can in, can you advise of good settings? How long will it take to get me serial once I order it? Mahalo, Dan    Report

Before I start I get Note : the selected audio and video codecs do not support property changes. After about 5 megs in, I get Failed: Error ocurred during conversion process. Unknown error occured. I just tried again with the same result.    Report

Whether to choose better quality over smaller video size, or vice versa, is a matter of personal preference. I suggest the you try converting one chapter of a DVD and choosing different options for converting and deciding the best options for your videos.   About the two error that you are facing: 1- What is the version and build number of your M²Convert application? You can get the build number by opening your program and then right-click on the title-bar at the very top of your window.  Select "About M²Convert..." and the version and build number should be at the top of the new window that appears. 2- Is this problem specific to some DVDs or all of them? 3- Are you able to play the source DVD correctly in Windows Media Player on the same PC? I'm asking this because our M²Convert applications use the same decoding technology that WMP uses to play back videos. 4- What windows operating system (XP, Vista, etc.) do you have? 5- Please list the DVD playing software (PowerDVD, Nero, AnyDVD, etc.) that you have installed on your PC. I am currently converting an avi. file so far so good, about half way through, the other files that failed were wmv/asf Movie file. I thought you are able to convert all these file types using this software. 3- Are you able to play the source DVD correctly in Windows Media Player on the same PC? Yes, they play in the windows media player. 4- What windows operating system (XP, Vista, etc.) do you have? XP. 5- Please list the DVD playing software (PowerDVD, Nero, AnyDVD, etc.) that you have installed on your PC. I only have the trail M2 software on this Pc.    Report

About the answers to the question that you asked me: 1) The version number that you have is not valid for M²Convert ZEN, are you evaluating M²Convert ZEN or M²Convert Pro? 2) ZEN devices support WMV format, why are you trying to convert these files? Also, where did you get the WMV file that you are trying to convert? Did you download it from a website? 3) Windows Media Player in Windows XP does not support DVD playing by default. If you are able to play DVDs in Windows Media Player this means that you have a DVD playing software installed.
